descend, break down

Spirit of God, descend, break down,

And wake these hearts from sleep,

Witness that Christ must rule alone,

And grant us tears to weep,

Let us count but loss this earthly dross,

And all we’ve so dear held,

And take us out from selfish pride,

And more into Thyself.

Spirit of God, descend, break down,

Unto our souls appear,

And draw us nigh to Jesus’ Cross

And by love keep us there.

May none of sin, and all of Him,

Be our longing day by day,

And may Truth’s cords bind round our hearts,

And force us not to stray.

Spirit of God, descend, break down,

And take us for Thine own,

May Christ who bears the Holy Crown,

Have in every heart His throne.

May the place be meet for His holy feet

That place that He’s made free

Let the glorious presence with us rest,

Lord, may it never leave.

Very good, Japup. Did you sleep in the tent last night or did you manage to write this without it?

The tweet where you say, ‘Both, Samuel Davies’? Read it like you hadn’t read the one before. I was like ‘what?!’

I mean, it sounds like you’re replying to Mr Davies’ quote. Read it and you’ll see my meaning. Strive for clarity, even within 144 characters.

  • Quote of the Day

“We love the old saints, missionaries, martyrs, and reformers. Our Luthers, Bunyans, Wesleys and Asburys, etc... We will write their biographies, reverence their memories, frame their epitaphs, and build their monuments. We will do anything except imitate them. We cherish the last drop of their blood, but watch carefully over the first drop of our own.”
