God’s Greatness, our redemption

A friend of mine wrote this first verse and chorus to a lovely tune, and I added the second and third verses:

The Lamb of God was slain,
As He cried and He suffered, God turned His face away
Jesus bled and died, He’s the living sacrifice
Lord take this heart of ice
And break it

Oh Lord, You stretched out the heavens
My God, You painted the sky
You set the land on the water
You sent Your only Son to die.

Jesus made our sins His own,
That this heart, once of stone, might full forgiveness know,
Mine the gain, His the pain, for His Father’s blessed name,
Lord, come and your captive claim,
Renew me.

As children of the King,
Clothed in beauty, not our own, Eternally we sing
To the glory of our Christ, He alone has satisfied
Eternity will cry
His beauty.

  • Quote of the Day

“We love the old saints, missionaries, martyrs, and reformers. Our Luthers, Bunyans, Wesleys and Asburys, etc... We will write their biographies, reverence their memories, frame their epitaphs, and build their monuments. We will do anything except imitate them. We cherish the last drop of their blood, but watch carefully over the first drop of our own.”
